Title: Marketing with Google

Over the years I have seen a major change developing with companies gradually increasing their online marketing budget and decreasing offline marketing (newspapers, glossy magazines etc...) This in the light that a large percentage of people now turn to the internet for products and services.

It may be somewhat of a biased view but to back it up, we practice what we preach and 80% of our marketing is done through the internet via search engines and email marketing campaigns.

The majority of websites would benefit from online marketing in one form or another. If you have a website then people need to find it...

In the most basic of terms, the main purpose of search engine marketing is getting prospective customers to visit your website. It is one of the most effective ways to get targeted traffic to your website. You may have heard of the term Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) at some point. SEO is one of the techniques used to get a top ranking on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing! etc...

SEO is hot topic in the website world at the moment with many companies setting up to capitalise on people's naivety to how it all works. Many are making unrealistic promises to get top 10 listings for terms and then not delivering on that promise.

Online marketing techniques are forever changing so their are no guarantees that when you get to number 1 in the google listings for the term you want that you will stay at that position. Many factors influence your position in the listings and from previous experience working on some of the most competitive terms around I can say that getting to the top of the listing for your product or service can mean huge customer traffic.
